Intense. That is the one word that well describes the concerts by the top violinist Thomas Zehetmair and his quartet. Intense expression; intense concentration; intensely played. Together with the better-known String Quintet in F, it forms the only chamber music from the symphonist Bruckner. He wrote it in 1861-1862, as a homework assignment for the music Kapellmeister Kitzler (director of music) in Linz. The score was discovered shortly after the Second World War.
