What if music were to break away from form and begin to dream freely? In Quasi una fantasia, Zlata Chochieva invites the audience into a world in which sonata and fantasy intertwine. Her refined touch and profound interpretations establish her as one of today’s most poetic pianists. Beethoven opens the door with his Sonata No. 13, a work he himself described as 'Quasi una Fantasia', unbound and exploratory. Schumann pushes the boundaries of expression with his Fantasiestücke, while Scriabin and Liszt create soundscapes that balance between ecstasy and introspection. Chochieva’s deep connection with Scriabin - her first musical love - makes this recital particularly personal. The rarely performed Fantasia in F-sharp by C.P.E. Bach, and Sibelius’ tranquil The Spruce provide subtle pauses in a programme full of contrasts and imagination. A recital as a fantasy - boundless, free, and captivating. This is Chochieva at her best.
