Multi-award-winning composer Heiner Goebbels tackles Henri Michaux' oeuvre
Following the decision of the Council of State to lift the closure of the cultural sector, we can confirm that this concert can take place in safe conditions with a maximum capacity of 200 spectators. Tickets already sold for this activity are no longer valid. Ticket holders who have received a refund in the meantime will be contacted personally. Please note that new seats are not numbered.
The Namur-born Henri Michaux was one of the most enigmatic multi-talents of the 20th century. Sailing on dreams, fantasies and mind-altering substances, he explored his experience of the world in highly original poems and visual art. His paintings and drawings are permeated with rhythm and gestures, and his poetry battles incessantly with the boundaries of language, with the unspeakable. It will therefore come as no surprise that multi-award-winning composer and theatre maker Heiner Goebbels would become entranced by Michaux' oeuvre. So in ‘Liberté d'action’, Goebbels – who by his own account finds Michaux' texts as fascinating as his images – aims to get closer to the illustrious artist via a third, acoustic medium. The result is a play of light and technology, a scenic concert for actor David Bennent, live electronica and two prepared pianos played by musicians from Ensemble Modern.
