A poignant and ecstatic happening
Following on from PLAY, Liesa Van der Aa and One Trick Pony are making ENTRE-CÔTES, the brand-new, second part of their triptych Court of Choice about power. Where PLAY depicted the power play on a tennis court, ENTRE-CÔTES chooses a butchers as an arena in which to grill consumer and producer alike. Customer is king, but where does his responsibility end? Does the customer act as guarantor for the survival of the shopkeeper? Does the buyer realise that? And is the boundary between buying and selling really that simple to draw? So where or with whom does the power ultimately lie? All these questions are embodied in the allegorical butchers in ENTRE-CÔTES. From behind a generously stocked meat counter, this musical happening fillets capitalist society in the form of a dark, eroticising and entertaining tableau. Poignancy and ecstasy with the slaughter and splendour of glistening pink meat. In short, a performance about the unfathomable and irresistible will of humans, about the source of their desires and instincts.
