‘Je est un autre.’ [‘I is another’] Rimbaud’s famous words could be the motto for Voicing Pieces. In this special one-on-one installation by in-house artist Begüm Erciyas, who was selected for Het TheaterFestival in 2018, you take a seat in a soundproof cubicle and get to work on a simple script. Along the way, you increasingly lose control. Your voice becomes detached from your body in a surprising way, and you are invited to listen to yourself as an outsider. How can our voice, which so strongly coincides with who we are, sound so strange? 

Voicing Pieces is an intimate and alienating experience, a magical encounter with the person you thought you knew through and through, but who sounds different to what you expected.
