Acting out technology - Van acteur naar actor
This sample presentation comprises work by young artists and academics taking part in the APT and the non-profit Aisthesis Acting out Technology workshop. Here guest speakers and educators (Eric De Bruyn, Arie Altena, Geert Lovink, Chris Kondek, Jan De Pauw, Ivo Van Hove) confront them with the changing role of the actor in a theatre space, where, as in public spaces, the use of telecommunication and network technology and surveillance techniques is on the rise. What are the effects of this technology on society, and what does this technological environment mean to the actor? How does network art allow definitions like 'actorship' or 'the artistic responsibility' of the maker to evolve? What is futurology and what can it do for the performing arts? Group discussions and personal feedback culminate in a one-off presentation by the participants of the course. This could assume all sorts of forms, so be warned. Dorkbot is organising an after-party.
