A meditative concert with Italian choral music about nature and time.
U. (Un Canto) is a musical performance, a concert with dramaturgy curated by Alessandro Sciarroni with Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou. The programme features choral songs from the Italian repertoire, composed between the mid-20th century and the present day.
The songs reflect on the relationship between humanity and nature, the passage of time, the rhythm of the seasons, and working on the land. They also explore the interplay between the human and the divine. Awe of nature resonates through their lyrics, as do values such as grace, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, and perseverance. There is also an acceptance of human limitations when faced with the mystery of existence and the transience of life.
The singers perform the selected choral pieces live, one by one, interspersed with profound silences. During the performance, they move slowly and continuously as one body, from the back of the stage towards the audience. In this steady movement, the performers evoke a shared, ancient memory - reminding the audience of what it once was.
