Angélica Liddell's theatre explores all the facets of pain in a society that is good for nothing. This Spanish 'paradoxical anarchist', as she calls herself, writes and directs plays. Like a fury. The stage is the perfect place for her to unashamedly break with the 'social pact', as well as with all barriers. In 'Maldito sea el hombre que confía en el hombre' she describes, in her cruel poetic language, solitary people who are deprived of love and find each other in a common hatred and suspicion. This fundamental distrust in turn fuels the need to rename the world.
The title of this performance is twofold: the first refers to the biblical book of the prophet Jeremiah ('Cursed be the man who trusts in man.'); the second part is written in French, a language that Liddell tried to master during the creative process. The performance uses letters of the French alphabet which the artist associates with a word that refers to an unhappy childhood. Verbal fireworks and physical exploits, including those of five Chinese acrobats, result in great art.
