duration
1h 10' 1986. About 90 towns and cities in Ukraine are evacuated as a consequence of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl. All that remains are petrified and overgrown ruins. Pétro and Nadia were the only ones to refuse to leave their village of Zvizdal. Berlin have visited this couple regularly since 2011. They survive in a prohibited zone. Very old, without any electricity or means of communication. But with plenty of superstition, vodka and song. ‘Zvizdal’ is a unique film portrait of stubborn survival in poverty and solitude.
