Christoph Marthaler - ZT Hollandia

In 'Seemannslieder/Op hoop van zegen', ZT Hollandia is embarking on a venture with the Swiss director Christophe Marthaler. In this music-theatre show, the director probes the identity of the Low Countries as defined by its constant and dramatic struggle with water. To this end he seeks inspiration in Herman Heijermans' 'Op hoop van zegen', but equally in the legend of the Flying Dutchman. In addition, he draws on the broad repertoire of Dutch shanties, which are performed by four of his singer-actors, alongside a cast of six generally virtuoso Hollandia actors.
