introduction Bart Boone . 7.15pm . Blue Bar
'Lilith' is a multidisciplinary late-night performance about the tragic love story of Adam and his first wife. In the bar of the Hôtel du Paradis we see a man who talks about his failed love. Then you see a woman who in turn starts to talk about her failed relationship. Gradually it becomes clear that he is Adam and she is Lilith, who in Jewish mythology was his first wife, created at the same time and as his equal. After Lilith refuses to submit to Adam, she decides to leave Paradise. Thus unfolds a tragic love story culminating in a dramatic ending.
In 'Lilith', the opera singer Claron McFadden presents emotionally-charged musical theatre that combines classical music, jazz, sampling, theatre, film and poetry. She raises timeless questions: the relationship between man and woman, and between man and God. McFadden, a classically trained singer with a predilection for various musical styles and arrangements, places the story of Adam and Lilith in our contemporary society and deliberately mixes different media to create breathtaking musical theatre with a powerful emotional charge.
