Comp. Marius
Republiek der dromen (of de geschiedenis van de geschaakte en verwisselde prinses) naar Bruno Schulz
In 1999, Waas Gramser and Kris Van Trier, members of the De Onderneming production organisation, left the traditional theatre buildings behind them to form 'Marius' and perform in the open air or on location. This 'open-air division' of De Onderneming has now gained its independence and from January 2006 will follow its own course under the name 'Comp. Marius'. Their latest production, 'Republiek der dromen', opened first in French at Le Havre in January 2005. The Dutch-language version has now found its way to the deSingel audience for the first Belgian performance. This play is based on a collection of writings by the Polish avant-garde writer Bruno Schulz, who was shot in the Jewish ghetto in late 1942. His baroque, expressionist work provides the starting point for a tragi-comedy on the power of imagination that is portrayed vividly, intelligently, sensitively and movingly.
