Unfortunately we have had to postpone this performance indefinitely. This regrettable decision has forced itself upon us because of the withdrawal of several European partners together with extra finance for the planned tour. As soon as we have any news about the possibility of still adding this first-rate production to our programme for next season, we shall let you know immediately. We apologise for this cancellation and hope for your understanding.
‘The Tale of Genji’ is generally considered to be the world’s first novel. This Japanese classic leads you through the life of Hikaru Genji, the emperor’s son. The celebrated kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa XI takes on the role of Genji and has gathered around him an incredible combination of leading no and kabuki actors and musicians, together with a New York countertenor and baroque musicians. A superlative combination that you really should not miss. You will see the very best of traditional Japanese theatre to close the season!Works
