El Conde de Torrefiel

The Swiss-Spanish duo Tanya Beyeler and Pablo Gisbert is the driving force behind the collective El Conde de Torrefiel. Their work lies at the cutting edge of theatre, performance, choreography and visual art and has been described as unconventional and tragicomic. ‘La Plaza’ is set inside the head of an audience member who leaves the theatre after a 365-day performance. We follow them in a mental journey from a fictitious space - the theatre - to the public space - the city. And ultimately to the private space - home. The relationship between the personal and the political lies behind all of El Conde de Torrefiel’s creations. And in ‘La Plaza’ this is masterfully portrayed – both textually and visually.
