1h 15' Two monologues by two strong personalities: old hand Dirk Roofthooft and up-and-coming talent Aurelie di Marino. Visual artist Els Dietvorst based her first text on her encounter with a homeless person and on the life at her farm in Ireland: beauty and destruction exposed as two sides of the same reality.
In 2016 in a second text, Els Dietvorst engaged with a drama from her own life: her brother’s deathbed. Here she attacks cruelty and pain with surrealism and absurdity. This results in a poetic, philosophical, but also humorous monologue about the vulnerability of mankind, fate and life.
Just like all of Dietvorst’s work, ‘Memento Mori’ is about the continuous search for beauty and the unshakeable belief in the power of art.
