Enrico Casagrande & Daniela Nicolò - Motus
L' Ospite
In the same week, we present a second production by Motus, 'L'Ospite' (The Guest), based on Pier Paolo Pasolini's film 'Teorema' (1968) and dedicated to the celebrated film director. In recent years, Pasolini's reflections on Western consumer society and its corrupt political establishment have acquired an almost prophetic value, especially in view of present-day Italian politics. The central topic of 'L'Ospite', the banality of evil, or how evil manifests itself in everyday life, was already present in 'Rooms', a four-part series that includes the other current Motus production, 'Twin Rooms', also programmed this season. 'Rooms' shows an everyday murder as an internal motivation for overcoming the fear of death. In Pasolini's film, and consequently in 'L'Ospite', the catalyst is an external factor. After the arrival of a guest (the visitation of an angel), all hell breaks loose. 'L'Ospite' was first performed in Rennes on 20 April 2004.
