Guy Cassiers
Siegfried uit Richard Wagners 'Ring der Nibelungen' - operacaptatie live vanuit Milaan
Since 2010 Guy Cassiers has been working on Richard Wagner's four-part opera cycle 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' alternately in Milan and Berlin. The first two parts, 'Das Rheingold' and 'Die Walküre', first performed in 2010, have previously been shown on the large screen at the Toneelhuis for the many opera and theatre fans on the home front. For 'Siegfried', the Toneelhuis will be collaborating with deSingel. This time a live broadcast of the Italian premiere of the third part of Wagner's voluminous opera cycle at La Scala in Milan will be screened in our Red Hall. 'Siegfried' is a fairytale in dark colours in which the final twilight of the gods approaches. The combination of Richard Wagner's mythological world and Guy Cassiers' use of visual technology makes this 'Siegfried' a contemporary fable of power and destruction.
