Guy Cassiers . Toneelhuis

Toneelhuis is starting its second season under the artistic directorship of Guy Cassiers. Reason enough for us to join forces with Antwerp's civic theatre twice in one season. Once as part of 'Antwerpse Kleppers', an initiative in which the work of theatre-makers from Antwerp can be seen in various theatres for two weeks. And secondly in a shared season ticket that includes three productions by deSingel and three by Toneelhuis. Our aim is to offer our theatre season ticket holders a range of theatre that is as large and diverse as possible. How does one create a season ticket like this? Each partner selects three productions from the other partner's programme on the basis of the following criterion: striving for a balance between international and domestic, established and less well known. What did we select from the Toneelhuis programme? 'Winterverblijf' is Lotte van den Berg's first large theatre production. The performance is about belief and was inspired by a journey this young Dutch director made through Siberia and Mongolia. Following the success of 'Mefisto for ever' we are looking forward to 'Wolfskers', part two of a triptych by Guy Cassiers about art, politics and power. In addition to this he is also working with the young writer's collective Olympique Dramatique on 'De Geruchten', a combined adaptation of two novels by Hugo Claus, 'De Geruchten' and 'Onvoltooid verleden'. deSingel is including this performance at Het Toneelhuis in its programme as part of the Het Toneelhuis/deSingel season ticket.
