ITA gathers on stage for a large-scale production about the Trojan War
Internationaal Theater Amsterdam gathers on stage for another large-scale production. Following on from Romeinse Tragedies and Kings Of War, the starting point is now the history of the Trojan war and the Achaean royal family. Ivo van Hove assembles different Greek tragedies to create an age-old story about revenge and how its consequences stalk and blight successive generations. Euripides' plays Electra, Orestes and The Trojan Women, among others, are knitted into a continuous narrative. Age of Rage shows the inescapable fate of society and its families after many years of war. But it is equally a story about today, about the mechanisms of violence and radicalisation. Leaders stand eye to eye with major disasters, but are more inclined to war than consultation. With Age of Rage Ivo van Hove creates a dark, grand and universal story. Bl!NDMAN instils it with live rhythm.
