Ivo van Hove unfolds an American tragedy of betrayal and revenge.
!! The shows will be performed as scheduled, but are completely sold out !!
!! This production will be performed on a special stage. This means the seats are not numbered. !!
Following the triumph of 'View from the Bridge' in London, Ivo Van Hove stunned Paris audiences with 'Vu du Pont'. We have opted for the latter version. It is authentic and understated, in untheatrical French, with the newly discovered Pauline Cheviller as Katie.
Arthur Miller's play from the fifties is set in an environment of Italian immigrants in a poor part of Brooklyn. Two brothers are working as illegal dockworkers for different reasons. The oldest wants to quickly return to his poverty-stricken family in postwar Italy, the youngest wants to pursue the American dream. Miller inextricably links the destiny of the individual with the community to which he belongs. The plot, which revolves around betrayal and revenge, inevitably leads to a fatal ending. An American tragedy par excellence.
