1h 10' In the same week we present two monologues by Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Both of Ivo van Hove’s productions are dramatically linked. Jean Cocteau wrote ‘La Voix Humaine’ in 1927. A woman telephones her ex-lover for the last time. She tries to keep the line open and save their relationship. To no avail. She gradually realises that the man has definitely opted for another woman. In the hands of Ivo van Hove, the text deals with much more than just the end of a relationship. He emphasizes the identity crisis that follows the break, expanding the personal story into a widely recognisable existential drama about loss and loneliness. A star role in which Halina Reijn performs in the footsteps of legendary actresses like Simone Signoret, Ingrid Bergman and Liv Ullmann.
