1h Can you create light theatre with tragedy? Jan Decorte is convinced you can. He describes his 'Wintervögelchen' as 'a lively performance about power, jealousy, despair, love and a little bird'. This theatre-maker is known for his personal approach to the classical repertoire. He frequently pares down great literary works in search of their raw heart. This generates solemn gems of theatre in which every word counts. This time it is Shakespeare and Hölderlin's turn. In 'Wintervögelchen' the paths of the exuberant English bard and the tragic hero of German romanticism meet. For some years now Decorte has been surrounded by a faithful artistic family. Johan Daenen (set), Sofie D'Hoore (costumes) and Luc Schaltin (lighting) guarantee a reduced - meaning austere but precise - stage design. On stage Decorte and his life partner Sigrid Vinks are supported by Herwig Ilegems, Waas Gramser and Kris Van Trier. The latter two are the founders and central figures of Comp.Marius. Allow yourselves to be seduced by this theatre, which is as mercurial and playful as a little winter visitor!
