Jean Michel Bruyère . LFKs, epidemic & deSingel
Enfin inhumains
The French director and artist Jean Michel Bruyère operates with his artist's collective 'LFKs' from both Marseille and Dakar. He was commissioned by deSingel to create an installation entitled 'Enfin Inhumains' for two consecutive seasons. He places sculptures, films and music in a theatrical setting. The result is an unconventional performance which the individual spectator can experience by following his own chosen path. It is a silent and indirect evocation of the fate of thousands of clandestine boat refugees from Africa. Most of them drown, while others die of hunger, thirst or cold before reaching their destination. This human trading is the third form of profitable illegal trading in the world after the arms trade and the drugs trade. It represents a profit of between seven and twelve billion dollars a year.
