Extinction
Julien Gosselin leaves audiences in a trance. All aspects of his shows - acting, film, dramaturgy, scenery and live music - are superb. The Guardian
The total destruction of European civilisation. That’s what Julien Gosselin and his company Si vous pouviez lécher mon coeur serve up for you in
Extinction. This time the French director, who is known for his love of big literary names and who made a devastating impression on DE SINGEL’s audience with marathon performances such as Les noms / Joueurs / Mao II and Le Passé, gets his teeth into the literary oeuvre of Arthur Schnitzler. His plays are a painful chronicle of a society on the verge of collapse. He articulates the way in which the refinement and dignity of the 20th-century Viennese elite culminates in a cosmic catastrophe that completely destroys its illusions and inherited beliefs.
With Extinction - at once radical textual theatre, film set and electronic concert - Gosselin dives into nihilism and destructiveness, in search of traces of a buried uprising, of vital energy and of the possibility of reinventing the modern project. DE SINGEL is the proud co-producer of this sensational performance. Do not miss this appointment with a major stage phenomenon!
