Julien Gosselin presents the theatre epic Maldoror.
Julien Gosselin’s monumental adaptations of modern literary classics draw audiences to theatres worldwide, even when some performances last eleven hours. At DE SINGEL, we are delighted to make time for the French director once again: this is our sixth collaboration, this time for his new work Maldoror. Clocking in at a - for Gosselin - modest five and a half hours.
This time, Gosselin bases his creation on the works of diverse authors. He previously adapted the oeuvre of Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, in 2666. Here, he combines several of Bolaño’s books with texts by French poet Lautréamont and Franco-Dutch author Joris-Karl Huysmans.
The performance is divided into three acts, with the audience experiencing different seating arrangements. During the second act, you are even free to move around and participate in the chaos Gosselin carefully orchestrates. Grand, unforgettable, and unique.
