Marius von Mayenburg is a dramaturge with the Berlin Schaubühne and a playwright of international fame. In the past, Het Toneelhuis produced his plays 'Feuergesicht' ('Fireface') and 'Das Kalte Kind' ('The Cold Child'). The setting of 'Turista' is a campsite, somewhere in France, a meeting place for people from different countries and walks of life. This international co-production brings a picture of present-day Europe and the confusion of tongues, both metaphorical and literal, that divides the peoples and cultures of the 'European Community'.
