Marion Siéfert

We are in the near future, when the temperatures have soared 5 degrees in France. For the past few years, Paul, CEO of one of the country's leading petrochemical groups, has taken refuge with his daughter Ami, in the luxury bunker he's built. From this lair he continues to manage his business remotely, aided by the neural implants he’s had added to his brain. All would be well, except that Ami has recently decided not to speak anymore. 

In this performance, French artists Marion Siéfert and Matthieu Bareyre start from an existential contrast between speaking and silence, between text and body. What happens when language derails and inner balance is lost? Siéfert moves between film and performance art, while Bareyre is a film-maker and documentary-maker. 

Their inspiration came from apocalyptic building projects: underground bunkers where the ultra-rich escape the fate of ordinary mortals. Against the backdrop of the climate crisis, non-stop communication, and technological acceleration, Siéfert and Bareyre explore the limits of language and the power of silence.
