This season we will be working closely together with Troubleyn/Laboratorium and the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp under the title 'Master-classes by Great Masters'. This joint venture is an organic result of recent developments in the activities of all the partners. Two seasons ago deSingel metamorphosed from an arts centre to an arts campus. Since then we have gradually developed an educational section focused on students or those who have recently graduated. Each year we give them the opportunity to immerse themselves in a facet of professional practice by way of one or more projects. We have regularly cooperated with the Conservatory on this. In recent years the activities of Troubleyn have undergone a similar development with the expansion of Laboratorium activities. Laboratorium vzw was founded in 2009 and has two objectives. On the one hand its work focuses on teaching and training for professional artists, while on the other it set up an interdisciplinary study of Jan Fabre's methodology. This ties in well with the task deSingel and the Conservatory have set themselves as an open arts campus.
Plenty of reasons therefore to join forces and set up a master-class programme that is both unique and well-founded.
This year two 'Great Masters' will be invited to give a Master-class: Claude Régy and Romeo Castellucci.
These master-classes are not only for conservatory students. Young professionals from both at home and abroad may apply.
