Heartbeats
A poetic performance about life, loss, and what remains
The internationally acclaimed Iranian-Dutch actress and theatre-maker Nastaran Razawi Khorasani intertwines documentary and theatre in her performances in a unique way. At DE SINGEL, she has already impressed audiences twice: first with the successful performance Songs for No One, and subsequently with the masterfully poignant This Is Not a Dance.
With Heartbeats, Khorasani imagines the unimaginable - mortality. She bases her physical and visual performance on conversations she had with a terminally ill peer. How does this woman - like Khorasani, a young mother of two - look at life? How does she spend her days? What does she long for, what does she wish to leave behind? The woman's voice, the light, and the music follow their own heartbeat in a constantly shifting space that depicts a world beyond death.
