Patrice Chéreau
La légende du Grand Inquisiteur
This spring, at the European theatre prize ceremony in Thessaloniki, the internationally renowned theatre and opera director, film-maker and actor Patrice Chéreau was awarded the oeuvre prize. The monologue 'La légende du Grand Inquisiteur', an episode from Dostoyevsky's 'Brothers Karamazov', is one of the most horrifying and eloquent recriminations ever addressed to Christ by a believer. Patrice Chéreau performs this piece from Dostoyevsky on a large stage, script in hand and with hardly any props. A staged reading in which the powerful text and actor are a perfect match for each other. A one-off performance in our Red Hall, an absolute must for all those who love international spoken-word theatre.
