Les trois soeurs naar Anton Tsjechov
In December 2016 Simon Stone staged an in-depth adaptation of Chekhov’s ‘Three Sisters’, in Theater Basel, which resulted in him being immediately selected for both the German and the Swiss Theatre Festival. We present you with the brand-new French version, ‘Les Trois Soeurs’ with an outstanding French cast. The action takes place in a glass house that rotates continuously. For Stone, the three sisters are clearly feminist, with regard to their occupations, their place in life and their relationship with the world of men, which they do not seem to take very seriously at all. Olga has no husband, but ultimately turns out to be the most satisfied of the three. Mascha is married, but has an affair with a married man. Finally, there is Irina, a socialist, who is in effect an early suffragette... But the longing for Moscow remains.
