The young Australian director Simon Stone is known for drastically revising and updating the repertoire. This time he is tackling 'Husbands and Wives', a wry comedy about love (and its bankruptcy) in which, in Stone's view, Woody Allen raises the trivialities of everyday life to a Shakespearean level. Jack and Sally are getting a divorce. It is a joint decision, but their friends Gabe and Judy are shocked. This unexpected news leads them to question their own marriage.
