Thibaud Delpeut & Toneelgroep Amsterdam
Al mijn zonen van Arthur Miller
Thibaud Delpeut is one of the main exponents of the TA-2 project for young directing talent at Toneelgroep Amsterdam. He will now be appearing at deSingel for the first time, with his successful production of Arthur Miller's 'All My Sons'. This up and coming man in the Dutch theatre world first studied clinical psychology before studying directing in Amsterdam, where he graduated in 2006 with his own play, 'Vinex'. Apart from writing his own plays, he enjoys tackling the classical repertoire. Like his artistic mentor Ivo van Hove, he reduces the story to its essence.
In 'All My Sons', Arthur Miller shows the failure of the postwar American dream both politically and socially through the medium of a family drama. The author shows us how the successful businessman Joe Keller's hunger for power is inversely proportional to his ethical awareness. Defending the family at any price clashes with community interests. Until he is confronted with the past and the malpractices that made him rich.
In the hands of Thibaud Delpeut and the first-class actors of Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Miller's tragic family portrait transcends into something universal. Cum laude.
