On graduation, Thomas Bellinck was immediately selected for the Theater Festival with a project that actually consisted of a political action with immigrants without papers on hunger strike. He opened the festival with a speech entitled ‘We were dying and then we received a prize’. In the following years he created his own work with a pronounced social and political slant. Defiant, radical and always founded on rigorous preliminary research. ‘Simple as ABC # 2: Keep calm & Validate’ is part two in a series of projects about what Bellinck calls ‘the Western migration machine’. In his preliminary research for this documentary musical-theatre production, he spoke with men and women in EU agencies whose mission is ‘European cooperation for the protection of a common external border’.
