Yuval Rozman returns with a sharp satire on Israel, Palestine and human madness.
Following Ahouvi in 2023, Israeli-born artist Yuval Rozman presents the final part of his Quadrilogy of My Country - a compelling series about his connection to his homeland and the Israeli-Palestinian region. Rozman deserted the Israeli army at the age of twenty and now lives in Paris.
In Au nom du ciel, he takes a step back - or rather, a step up - and lets three birds speak. High above the earth, they investigate the murder of Iyad Al-Hallaq, a 32-year-old Palestinian with autism who was killed by Israeli police in 2020. Rozman composes a black comedy based on this tragic incident, in which the birds try to fathom the madness of mankind with empathy and humour.
The second part of his four-part series was ultimately not performed at DE SINGEL in 2023 due to the tense context after 7 October. Rozman did speak to the audience in Antwerp at the time, and now returns with his fierce, tragic and at the same time humorous finale.
