Arno Brandlhuber
Arno Brandlhuber set up the b&k+ architectural firm with Bernd Kneiss in 1996. They introduced cooperation with others into their programme quite early in their quest for 'Realarchitecktur'. The '+' in their name refers to the synergy with a range of other disciplines, which they consider essential. In this way b&k+ have carried out projects with the artists Thomas Demand (Berlin) and Andreas Roth (Göteborg), the author Martin Burckhardt (Berlin) and the composer Stefan Schneider (Cologne). In 2003 Brandlhuber became a professor in the Faculty of Architecture at the Academy if Fine Arts in Nuremberg, where he also founded the postgraduate Master of Architecture course (www.a42.org). In 2000 and 2003 b&k+ were awarded the architecture prize of the city of Cologne, and in 2004 the German Steel Construction Prize. Their work has been exhibited at the Casino in Luxemburg (2001), Archilab in Orléans (2001 and 2002), Kunstverein in Hamburg (2003) and at the Sao Paolo and Venice Biennales (both in 2004). In 2005 deSingel organised their first retrospective.
