Katerina Sedá
Katerina Sedá (CZ, born 1977) lives and works in Brno and Prague. She focuses on social experiments and often depicts social behaviour and the establishment of standards. In so doing, she mostly makes use of family members, friends and people from her native city of Lísen. On the international scene, she is noted for 'It Doesn't Matter', a collection of six hundred drawings which were the result of an assignment she gave to her grandmother. Sedá asked her grandmother to sketch from memory all the objects from her former hardware shop. This therapeutic 'Brain-Train' resulted in an impressive collection from the collective memory. Sedá recently held solo exhibitions at venues including the Renaissance Society, Chicago (2008), Kulturgest, Lisbon (2008), Galerie im Taxipalais, Innsbruck (2007) and the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford (2006). She has also participated in group exhibitions such as Manifesta 7, Bolzano (2008), the 5th Berlin Biennial (2008), documenta 12, Kassel (2007), Frankfurter Kunstverein (2007) and the Prague Biennial (2005).
