Koenraad Dedobbeleer

The artistic output of Koenraad Dedobbeleer is based on the keen-eyed observation of architecture, urbanisation and related phenomena. Out of this he generates an arsenal of images that link up with minimalist art by way of sparse artistic transformations. His sculptures and objects often seem temporarily and provisionally set up in space, as if they could disappear at any moment into everyday anonymity. In addition to solo shows such as 'Deflationary Exercise' and 'La liberté d'erreur' at the Galerie Micheline Szwajcer, Antwerp (2007 and 2008), 'I Don't Care If Nothing Else Goes My Way' in the Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach (2007), 'Contextual Minimalism' in the Kortrijk Benedengalerij (2006) and 'Bad Timing' in Galerie Georg Kargl, Vienna (2005), he has regularly held duo exhibitions with artist friends including Rita McBride, Steve Vanden Bossche, Anne Daems and Hans Op De Beeck. Together with the architect Kris Kimpe he publishes the fanzine 'UP', each edition of which turns the spotlight on a forgotten architectural icon.
