Lieven De Cauter (b. 1959 / Belgium. Lives in Brussels)
Lieven De Cauter studied art history and philosophy. His publications include: 'Het Hiernamaals van de Kunst' (1993), 'Archeologie van de Kick. Verhalen over Moderniteit en Ervaring' (1995), 'De Dwerg in de Schaakautomaat - Benjamin's verborgen Leer (1999) and the poetry collection 'De Dageraadsmens' (2000). He is the co-author of 'Dat is Architectuur!' (2001) and 'Het kleine Lexicon van het Vlaams (Architectuur-) Landschap' (2003), which was published by deSingel. He teaches philosophy at the RITS film school in Brussels, the PARTS dance school in Brussels and the Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. He also regularly publishes articles in the magazines 'De Witte Raaf', 'Archis' and 'Oase'.

Lieven De Cauter (born 1959 in Koolskamp) is a Belgian philosopher, art historian, writer, and activist based in Brussels. He has written and edited numerous books focusing on contemporary art, architecture, politics, and the city, including: The Capsular Civilization: On the City in the Age of Fear; Heterotopia and the City: Public space in a Postcivil society, co-edited with Michiel Dehaene; and Art and Activism in the Age of Gloablization, co-edited with Karel van Haesebrouck and Ruben De Roo.
