Kurt Van Belle (b. 1975, Kapellen) studied architecture at the Henry van de Velde Institute in Antwerp and from 1998 to 2003 worked for Claus & Kaan Architects in Amsterdam. From 2003 he worked freelance for Christian Kieckens Architects in Brussels.
Patricia Medina (b. 1975, Malaga, Spain) studied at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Seville and in 2000 was awarded an Erasmus grant to study at the Technical University in Eindhoven. From 2000 to 2003 she worked at Claus & Kaan Architects in Amsterdam, followed by a year at Herzog & de Meuron in Basel.
Both teach at the Architectural Academy in Maastricht and at the Technical University in Delft.
In 2003 Van Belle and Medina won the international 'Europan 7' prize. In 2004 they set up their joint firm in Antwerp, with a branch in Malaga.
They are currently working on the construction of 'Suburban Metamorphosis' in Hengelo (NL), their winning urban planning project for 'Europan 7', and the 'RVB Office Building', an annex to an office building in Essen (B). Their work has been covered by several international publications, including recently in 'a&u' no. 415 (Tokyo, 2005), 'Europan Europe / Europan 7' (Paris, 2004) and 'Europan 7. Europan Netherlands', Nai Publishers (Rotterdam, 2004).
