Aitana Cordero
Solo ...?
How do you put an end to an end? The Spanish choreographer Aitana Cordero attempts to do this solo. Her performance is both a tableau vivant about loss and anger and a reflection on the medium of theatre and dance. Initially Cordero stands on an empty stage. To the accompaniment of moving love songs, she then brings all sorts of props onto the stage, as if she is preparing for a performance. And so she begins to play with the audience's expectations, constantly surprising it with unexpected twists and unexpected details.
Aitana Cordero studied dance, choreography and new media at the Hogeschool voor Kunsten in Amsterdam. She created 'Solo…?' in 2008 as a final-year project and describes it as choreography for objects. What is so striking about her work is her individuality and fiery determination. A performance full of passion and daring.
