Hommage Pina Bausch & Merce Cunningham

deSingel pays tribute to Pina Bausch and Merce Cunningham who died on 30th June and 27th July respectively. She was 68 and he had just turned 90. Both brought about a huge revolution in the world of dance and theatre. With her gentle eye, the German choreographer from Wuppertal portrayed better than anyone the ever vulnerable, tortured person constantly in search of love. The New York choreographer, the father of postmodern dance, forever changed our view of movement, dance, space and art. They regularly made guest appearances at deSingel and were our discussion partners for many years. We shall always have fond memories of these unforgettable characters.
