A few years ago, the Slovenian performer and choreographer Jurij Konjar discovered a video recording from 1986 that entranced him. In it, the dancer and choreographer Steve Paxton improvised on Bach's Goldberg Variations played by the pianist Glenn Gould. Paxton was in at the founding of the legendary Judson Dance Theater in New York in the sixties. He is well known for his experimental approach and the use of everyday movements. His interpretation of the Goldberg Variations fascinated Konjar so much that he decided to perform them himself. First he copied Paxton's movements. And then, true to his own feelings and imagination, he started to delete and create anew. The result is an intimate solo in which Konjar seeks the essence behind the form.
