Global stars such as Madonna, Rosalía, and Angèle have sought them out. Since 2019, Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer, and Arthur Harel have led the Ballet National de Marseille as the collective (LA)HORDE, transforming the classical ensemble into a hub for experimentation and contemporary dance. This season, the trio visits DE SINGEL once again with Après moi, le déluge.
Their latest creation begins at a tipping point, where the world is teetering on the brink of collapse. Under the weight of crises and collective exhaustion, bodies crumple, melt away, or disintegrate, even before the performance truly begins. Following on from Room with a View and Age of Content - both performed at DE SINGEL - (LA)HORDE continues to explore ways of breaking open entrenched narratives through dance. They delve into everyday rituals and power dynamics to understand how we care for, how we observe, and what we pass on to one another.
In the world of (LA)HORDE, all styles are equally valuable. Their inspiration ranges from TikTok to street style and club dance on the fringes of the mainstream. By blending of dance with virtual visual culture, a hybrid performance emerges that is both captivating and unsettling.
