Maria Hassabi

For 'SoloShow', Maria Hassabi went looking for the various emblematic ways women have been portrayed throughout art history. She examined about three hundred images including paintings, sculptures, photos and film stills, all of which she used as the basis for her choreography. The result is a performance of exceptional beauty that focuses on physicality. With her muscular body, Hassabi constructs sculptures in various poses that merge astonishingly one into the other. All with an incredible precision and control. Maria Hassabi obtained a Bachelor degree in Performance and Choreography at the California Institute of the Arts (LA) and now lives in New York.
