1h 30' “How can I deal with the many influences and traces that have shaped me as a person and an artist? Are there new experiences and unwritten life stories still lurking in my body?” Choreographer and performance artist Meg Stuart goes solo!
In ‘Hunter’ she explores her own body as a living archive, populated by personal and cultural memories, forefathers and artistic heroes, fantasies and invisible forces. She translates them into a series of self-portraits. Experiences are cut and pasted on the editing table and show possible links: a cartoon body, a shamanic ritual and a sound sculpture. Different moods bounce around through a variety of media. Bursts of motoric energy reveal a primary body that is not glorified, but thrown back on its own physicality. By exploring various aspects of the body as a visual medium, Meg Stuart, in close collaboration with video artist Chris Kondek, shows more than just one homogeneous vision of the body. Expect a performance full of extraordinarily powerful images of a body that reveals its secrets like a ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’.
