According to choreographer Tamara Cubas - who is coming to DE SINGEL for the first time - being young is akin to a collision between past, present and future. She sets to work with a group of graduates from Antwerp Conservatoire’s dance programme. Together they create a rite of passage with an overwhelming, ‘monstrous’ burst of energy as a result. During the collaboration, the renowned choreographer and video artist wants to encourage them to free themselves from their old selves. She enables them to transform into a community of unique individuals who are open: to the world in all its complexity; and to one another, whilst retaining everyone’s individuality. Fear of the unknown is thus channelled into an energetic performance about the power of rebirth.
Offering for a monster was originally developed with a group of P.A.R.T.S. dancers. Specially for this occasion, some of these dancers joined students from the Conservatoire's dance and drama course.
