More Mouvements für Lachenmann
What do you hear when you switch off the sound at a concert and you still see the movements of the musicians? This question forms the basis for this choreographed concert. Xavier Le Roy studied molecular biology at the University of Montpellier. Since 1991 he has worked as a performer and choreographer. He created 'More Mouvements für Lachenmann' to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the composer Helmut Lachenmann. Now there is a sequel in which, by playing with visibility/invisibility, Xavier Le Roy studies our musical experience. What we hear is influenced by our visible perception: we listen with our eyes. The evening comprises two parts. Part one, 'Salut für Caudwell', is played by two pairs of guitar players. This is followed by the 'Gran Torso' string quartet, which will have its première performance at the Montpellier international dance festival. This is regarded as the essence of Lachenmann's aesthetics and as a milestone in the repertoire.
