'Excerpt from a Day' is an episode of sound from a day, from an everyday life. For Mira Sanders the perception of the ordinary, while walking, observing, exploring the space, is always a form of enquiry. In 'Excerpt from a Day' the real is returned to the possible. The absence of representation by images creates a mental space in sound, an imaginary vacuum where new images lie concealed. As a spectator one is thrown back on one's own resources, screened off from the void that accompanies the flood of images that surrounds us. So when a representative image does after all appear, no content is provided with it: an empty theatre stretches out over an imaginary audience, beyond the division between 'seeing' and 'being', 'real' and 'acted'.
