Anno 21st century, the digital world dominates most societies. The digital revolution is the latest in a long list of societal upheavals. How can a simple binary code initiate complex transformations? How is it possible that a 0 and a 1 create the desire for eternal life? How did we get to this point where two simple numbers seem so reliable as to create an ever-encompassing artificial intelligence? In capitalist societies, young people growing up after 2000 cannot imagine a society without numbers. They breathe the internet, embodying digital knowledge as if technology were (only) a bodily extension.
The festival Digitize Me! is pushing the digital revolution one step further. The possibilities are endless, the potential is inexhaustible, and therein perhaps lies the key to a more critical attitude. The digital revolution can no longer be stopped, so how can we lead it beyond capitalist, exploitative interests?
